Verifying Your Encounters On Tinder

Tinder earned (and has maintained) its reputation as the most popular dating app some time ago. It is so simple and easy to use after all! Even the term “swipe right” has entered our modern lexicon. But Tinder has also had its pitfalls over the years and problems still persist with how authentic some users’ profiles actually are.

How to Get Verified on Tinder

Even though Tinder has added a new background check feature, there is something you still have to worry about. There’s still one problem that every Tinder user should be aware of. This problem is romance scams. This is a little-known issue that plagues the internet and affects thousands of lives every day. Dating and meeting new people is a particularly vulnerable experience. The last thing people want when seeking connections (especially after the end of a previous relationship) is to feel, or be, exploited. In this article, we’ll break down how to tell use Tinder background checks, and other ways to verify someone you’re talking to on Tinder.

Tinder’s new verification feature allows you to see if someone has a violent criminal past. But there is other information that you might want to know. With a reverse search, you can see your match’s digital footprint, allowing you to see their hidden social media accounts. Use the search bar below to get the information you need today!

Fortunately, Tinder does allow users to ‘authenticate’ themselves. The only issue with this approach is that Tinder verification is temporary and optional. Meaning not every account is verified. Leaving its users vulnerable to catfish scammers.

During Tinder’s verification process, users are asked to pose a certain way and a face recognition feature then matches what it reads with their profile’s posted pictures. It’s a quick, private and secure process. Once the process is complete, you’ll get a blue check on Tinder. This checkmark can help you stand out and let your matches know your profile is real. But be sure to update it from time to time! because before long, your checkmark will disappear, and you’ll be left to complete the process all over again.

How to Run a Background Check on Tinder

Using Tinder’s new background check feature is simple. This can help you figure out whether or not the person you’ve matched with has been convicted of a violent crime. The steps to running a Tinder background check are as follows.

  1. Open the Tinder app
  2. Click on the message button at the bottom left hand corner
  3. Click on the you’re match
  4. Click on the blue shield in the top right hand corner
  5. Then tap “Safety Center”
  6. Tap “Garbo”

Tinder offers two free background checks person, after that, each check is an additional $2.50.

Get a Blue Check Mark on Tinder

Follow these steps to get a blue check:

  1. Open the app and log in. Go to your profile page.
  2. Click on the gray checkmark next to your name. Then select Next or Continue.
  3. You’ll then be shown a series of pictures with models making varied expressions and poses. Using your phone’s camera, snap pictures of yourself making those poses or expressions as best you can.
  4. Submit them.
  5. You’ll then be informed that your verification is under review.
  6. Wait for an email informing you of verification or if you need to redo the process.
  7. Go check your check!

Here are two quick tips to consider before doing this verification process on Tinder:

  1. Clean your camera lens,
  2. Take the photos in a well-lit room.

Other Ways Of Verifying Somene on Tinder

As stated above, many accounts on Tinder are not verified. So chances are at someone point you’ll match with someone who doesn’t have a blue checkmark o their account. Running a reverse image search is another way of verifying your matches. Think about it as another line of defense stopping you from being catfished. and best of all, running a reverse image search is simple:

  1. Screen shot you’re match’s profile
  2. go to socialcatfish.com
  3. click the ‘image’ tab on the search bar
  4. crop and upload the image
  5. Get all of the results about you’tr matches profiles

Or, simply use the search bar below to run your reverse image search/

There is another way to run a reverse image search on your Tinder searches. Google has a reverse image search, but it’s important to understand that Google is not a people search verification site like social catfish, so it may not be as effective at determining whether or not your match is a catfish.

  1. Go to images.google.com
  2. The same camera icon won’t be there, so you’ll need to access the regular site.

For Safari users, tap the aA icon in the top left of the screen and select ‘Request Desktop Website’.

For Chrome users (highly recommended), tap the three-dot menu and scroll down and select ‘Request Desktop Site”.

Some phones even allow the Chrome app to do a reverse image search directly from an image, where users simply hold their finger on a photo until a menu pops up. All they then need to do is select ‘Search Google for This Image. But this will only be when they are on the Chrome app, not any other app.

It’s unfortunate that this is another way how to verify on Tinder, despite the simplicity of getting the blue check on Tinder. But should you have a match on the app and it appears too good to be true, and they are unverified, now you at least know how to protect yourself. It’s a simple process to reverse search an image, especially with Google, and it could prove to be your best defense against ‘catfishing’ or something worse.
