Why Is Everyone Freaking out About Tinder Places?

Tinder Places might sound creepy and something made for stalkers with the goal of being Tinder’s version of Craigslist ‘Missed Connection’.

Have you ever Google searched the name of a new love interest or the blind date your friend set you up on? What if you could know all the places that a future match or love connection has been visiting –  everywhere from a dive bar to a hot sushi restaurant?

According to its makers, Places will help Tinder users connect and find common ground. On the flip side, it will let people know more about you than you want. Luckily, it is user-driven. You can decide if you’re going to turn the feature on or off.

Here Is How the New Tinder Feature Will Work

Although the final product has yet to be released worldwide, according to information announced by Tinder in May 2018, the app is adding a new trend to its swiping genius. After visiting a location, Places will allow you to swipe on other users who have visited the same area.

Perhaps this will let you reconnect with an attractive person you saw but didn’t approach. Or, you at least might meet people who have similar interests to you – from yoga to dancing, or healthy eats!

To Use Tinder Places:

• Open the Tinder app.
• Select the red pin icon (similar to those found on digital maps) to open ‘Places.’
• To use, select “Turn Places On.”

Safety Features

This feature should be turned on and off – as needed – to enhance privacy. For instance, you might use the ‘Places’ feature at trendy cafes but turn it off at fast food joints, etc., to keep your secrets just that!

Another essential safety feature is that ‘Places’ does not activate in real time. This means that users can’t see where you are and show up while you are there. Instead, your location will be included after you’ve left!

Also, and perhaps most important – Tinder assures that private places like banks, doctors, and home are automatically excluded. The only areas which Tinder’s ‘Places’ will show you are hotspots and social locations!
