Tinder Whatsapp Scam: Tinder Text Scams To Watch out for

Tinder is a popular dating app, and it’s a great way to meet people in your area for fun or relationships. However, the platform does have its downsides, including its use for scams. Whatsapp scammers take advantage of this platform to talk to unsuspecting users and move the conversation to Whatsapp, where they can swindle them. You may take a few steps to protect yourself from such Tinder Whatsapp scams. To find out how to keep on reading.

How to Find Out if the Person You Met on Tinder Is a Scammer

We’ve all seen the Tinder Swindler. But the reality is a lot scarier. Because the truth is, scammers make a fortune off of talking to people through fake Tinder accounts, and most of the time it’s not even them in the picture. A catfish scam is when someone steals photos from an influencer to trick people into sending them giftcards. Not only do Tinder users lose money because of these scams, but they also go through emotional pain after all of the broken promises they get after engaging with the fraud for weeks. If you want to find out whether or not the person you matched with on Tinder is real, enter a photo of them into the search bar below.

How Do Tinder Whatsapp Scams Happen?

In Tinder scams, the trickster will message you on Tinder and start a conversation. When you ask to meet the user, they’ll come up with an excuse for why they can’t meet up with you in person yet. They may say they’re busy working or at school or just not feeling well enough to meet up.

After a few back-and-forth texts, they’ll ask whether you have WhatsApp so that they may keep talking to you! You’ll get excited to move the conversation to Whatsapp because that streamlines your talk. However, things will suddenly start getting strange when they ask for money!

They might say something like: “My phone died, and I don’t have my charger, but I want to talk with you. Do you have WhatsApp?” Or maybe, “I’d love to meet up with you soon, but I was just in a car accident, and my phone isn’t working! Can we keep talking on WhatsApp?”

The Whatsapp scammer will then try to keep chatting with you on WhatsApp until they get what they want—your money. They’ll tell you some stories about why they need it and how fast they need it. Some Tinder Whatsapp scammers will probably tell you that their family is in grave danger or that their life is at risk. Once money comes through for them, there’s a good chance that all communication will stop.

Dealing With WhatsApp Scammers

When it comes to dealing with WhatsApp scammers, the key is to exercise caution and recognize the warning signs. Most scams will involve messages requesting personal information such as bank account details or credit card numbers, so if you receive such a message it’s best to delete it without responding.

Additionally, never click links contained within suspicious messages, even if they appear to come from a legitimate source. If you do find yourself being targeted by WhatsApp scammers, one option is to report them directly to WhatsApp and block their account; this way you can help protect others from falling victim and prevent further attempts at scamming.

Why Tinder Scammers Choose Whatsapp?

Unless you know someone internationally, or do international business, most people don’t use WhatsApp for their day-to-day communications. Scammers commonly use Whatsapp to talk to people because they are usually people living in foreign countries.

It’s easy to hide behind an alias on Whatsapp. Many people steal images from influencers on Instagram to make Tinder accounts, then the Tinder scammers make WhatsApp accounts with the same picture.

On the other hand, you have to use your real name and profile picture on Tinder. So if you’re trying to scam people out of money, it becomes hard for you to avoid getting caught.

Also, you’re less likely to report someone on WhatsApp than on Tinder. For instance, if a Tinder user is being harassed or scammed by another user, they can report that person directly from the app itself. This alerts Tinder’s administrators and helps them take action against the scammer in question. But if someone is harassing or scamming you via Whatsapp? The administrators might not even realize it since there’s no way for a victim to report the situation directly through the Whatsapp application.

Common Tinder Whats app Scams

Here are the common Tinder scams and how they work so you can avoid them:

1.) Catfish Scam

This is probably the most common Whatsapp scam on Tinder. It’s also one of the oldest tricks in the book of dating. A catfish will create a fake Tinder profile filled with stolen photos, a fake name, and age and then start striking up conversations with their intended victim.

The Tinder scammer will say whatever it takes to suck their victim in, but eventually, the goal is to convince them to leave the confines of Tinder and move the conversation to another platform like WhatsApp. Typically, Whatsapp scammers use Whatsapp to ask for money or gifts from the victim.

2.) Sextortion

Sextortion is a common Whatsapp romance scam on Tinder and other dating apps. You meet a scammer who starts a romantic relationship and convinces you to move your conversation to Whatsapp. Once there, the Tinder scammer will trick you into sending them nude pictures and videos in exchange for theirs. They will then attempt to blackmail you into sending them money or threaten to publicize the naughty pictures. Alternatively, they could give you a link that can download malware to your device.

How to avoid Whatsapp Scams Tinder

While there’s no way to guarantee your safety when using Tinder or any other social media platform, there are some precautions you can take to make sure your interactions are pleasurable and amusing rather than dangerous. If you’re going on a date with someone you met on Tinder, keep the following in mind:

The key to avoiding these scams is to realize that they exist. Don’t be afraid to learn about the dangers out there, so you can avoid them. Familiarize yourself with the common scams. It’s better to educate yourself about potential threats until you know what you’re dealing with.

Finding Out if The Person You Met on Tinder is a Scammer

The easiest way to find out if the person you met online is a scammer is to use a reverse image search on the images posted on the person’s Tinder account. A reverse image search will help you find out where else those images are used to help you determine whether or not they can be trusted. Use the search bar below to see the truth!
