Clover Dating App Scams: Snapchat and Reddit Girls are After Your Hard-Earned Money

Everyone dreams of finding that perfect companion to go through life with, so much so that they try to look for their special someone online. In some instances, this ends up being a good thing and leaves people in happy and healthy relationships to where they can live out their happily ever after. For others, it can spiral in regret, doubt, and wishing that they never sent someone they didn’t know money.

Which leads us to the question of why would someone send another person they barely know money?

Well, the answer is simple. The person spamming them gained their trust through the Clover dating app and then proceeded to ask for money. The other person then complied with their request and sent them as much money as the suspect wanted. Scammers come up with many excuses and ways to steal your hard-earned money and partake in many Clover dating app scams to make this possible.

How do Scammers Get Away with Clover Dating App Scams?

My-Post-22
  • Minors lie about their age to get with people older than them. There have been instances where minors who were 16-17 years old pretended to be someone who was 22-23 years old in order to get with people older than them. This may follow under the same guidelines as kittenfishing, however, it is worst than just lying about your age since they are pretending to be adults as minors. They could be doing this because they truly want to be with someone older, or just looking to take your paychecks since most of them are not working.
  • Girls sell their Snapchat Premium accounts on this dating app. Attractive looking girls make guys want to talk to them and after a few days ask to add them on Snapchat. Once they get on Snapchat, girls start asking if they want inappropriate images or videos of them for a price. The guys pay the money to see the girl, and then once they see a little peak of these images or videos, the girls demand more money from them if they want to see more. They even go as far as to go on Reddit to advertise the Clover dating app to meet them, so that they could talk them on the app into selling their Snapchat Premium.
  • Nigerian scammers pose as attractive military men. Usually, Nigerian scammers pose as someone attractive to lure their victims in and gain their trust. Once their trust is gained, they come up with some reason why you need to wire them money overseas and persuade you with their good looks. Once you wire the money over, they take your money and never want to talk to you again. These scammers could also pretend other attractive people too, and could also say they work out of seas or out of the country. Keep an eye out for anyone who asks for money and makes reasons not to see you or video chat you.
  • When they disappear from the Clover app, and then reappear as a different account. People do date, delete the app, and then it doesn’t work out so they re-download the app under a different account. This is totally fine. However, if you do see that someone disappeared and then came back to the app, just keep a close weary eye on them to make sure they aren’t anyone suspicious-like. Because even though that person could have good intentions, they could also have bad intentions and date multiple people to get more money from these individuals.
  • If they want to move too fast in the relationship, they could want to gain your trust quickly. A symptom of a classic scammer is them wanting to move overly fast in a relationship by saying things that it was fate or destiny meeting you and that they love you within a day. They do this so that you will quickly fall in love with them and trust them, making you lower your guard and willingly give them what they want.
  • If they claim to be recently widowed, they are probably trying to make you feel bad for them. Don’t get me wrong, there are some people who could be telling the truth when they say they are widowed on this dating app. However, it never hurts to keep your guard up when talking to someone who happens to be widowed, just in case they are just trying to make you feel bad. When you meet someone who lost their significant other, you have a tendency to feel sorry for them and do anything to make them happy. They can then take advantage of your feelings and ask for money and other things to “cope with their loss”.
  • They have too many grammar or spelling errors in their messages and claim to be from the United States. If they say that their native language is English and yet can’t spell a single word right and is having a hard time putting a sentence together, chances are they are probably from a different country. Nigerian scammers, and scammers from other countries, try to say they are from the United States using their fake pictures as proof. However, when they try to type an English message with Google Translate or with the little knowledge they have on English, it usually ends up looking super unreadable. Pay attention to those with poor grammar and do not under any circumstance give them money.
