Lies. Cheating. And wondering whether her husband will stay or leave her for an adult entertainer. Today we are covering a case unlike any other here at Social Catfish. A man named Stephen has been talking to a porn star online and keeps telling two different tales. He tells everyone that he’s going to leave his wife for her, but then tells his wife he wants to make things work. However, his wife suspects that this porn star is actually a romance scammer. Tammy and Stephen’s Story
Tammy reached out to Social Catfish stating that her husband, Stephen, was sending money to another woman claiming to be a porn star named Alix. She suspected that Alix wasn’t being totally honest with Stephen, nor was she really an adult entertainer. Instead, Tammy thought that this person stole Alix’s photos and was catfishing Stephen in a romance scam to steal their money. She has also been heartbroken since Stephen started talking to other women online, and felt forced to have an open relationship just to keep him in her life.
Stephen is obsessed with Alix and is in denial that her profiles could be fake. He listed how he thinks the person he is talking to could be a romance scammer but isn’t coming to terms with the fact that she is actually a scammer. When sitting down with David, he claims that he would leave his wife for Alix yet tells his wife a different story. David tells him that it’s better to be honest with Tammy and needs to decide whether to save his marriage or pursue his relationship with Alix.
In another interview, Stephen claims that he wants to give his marriage with Tammy a chance. When asked what he would do if he met Alix in person, he stated that he would “get it out of his system” and spend a few weeks with Alix. Then, he would go back to Tammy once Alix was tired of Stephen. In a surprise twist, we invited the real Alix to come onto the interview to share her thoughts. She confirmed that she didn’t know who Stephen was and that it was indeed a romance scammer who created fake profiles of her.
We went over the evidence with them that proved that Alix was fake, which is listed below:Â
Catfish Cases: How Can We Tell That It’s a Scammer?
Fake Emails
Stephen received email messages from both the fake Alix and her supposed manager. One email, in particular, claimed that Stephen paid to see Alix in person and that she was going to see him in fourteen days. However, she never showed up for their in-person visit and kept coming up with excuses as to why she can’t see him.
We reverse searched the email addresses used to contact Stephen and found no information attached to them. Usually, if an email is legit there would be a real name or social media accounts attached to it, but we couldn’t find anything. This confirms that these email addresses were fake!
Fake Driver’s License
In the above photo, you can see that the photo Alix posted on Instagram is the same exact photo used within the driver’s license. In New York, you have to take your photo at the DMV and it is only to be used for your driver’s license photo. This confirms that the driver’s license shown above is photoshopped.
Along with this, if you look closely at the license you can see that there are no symbols in the fake ID compared to the real ID in the demonstration. You can also see that the watermark is off in the fake ID compared to the real ID. Alix also confirmed that her birthday was wrong in the fake ID.
Photoshopped Sign
As you can see in the above photo, the original photo did not include her holding a sign. Therefore, the scammer photoshopped an extra hand and sign in this photo. When talking to Stephen, he stated that he was asking for Alix’s true identity. The scammer claimed that this was the only way she could verify that she is who she says she is since her “video camera was broken.”
However, this was proven to be a lie since the sign isn’t real and was made to look real with the illusion of photoshop. Therefore, if Alix was lying about the sign and can’t prove herself in any other way we can conclude that it’s a scammer and not really Alix.
The Scammer Lied About Traveling
The scammer claimed that Alix was going to the UK which is why she couldn’t meet Stephen. We then found out after interviewing Alix that she had never been to the UK. When questioned about this photo, Alix told us that she was on her way to Las Vegas and was not going to the UK anytime soon.
This just goes to show that the scammer was lying about what she was doing. She just said that so that she could have an excuse for Stephen as to why she couldn’t hang out with him.
These Were Fake Profiles Using Alix’s Photos
During the interview, Alix reassured everyone that all of her official profiles have blue checkmarks by their name. Therefore, if there are profiles with Alix’s name on them and they don’t have blue checkmarks, then they are not legit profiles.
Also, Alix stated that she has millions of people that follow her official profiles. If she had any more profiles, she would have those same people follow the other profiles. Since these fake profiles only have thousands of followers, she confirmed that they weren’t hers.
The Scammer Used a VOIP Phone Number
When we reverse searched the above phone number, we found that it had no name attached to it. This was due to the fact that it was a VOIP phone number that did not belong to any major phone carrier. Instead, it belonged to a third-party app that scammers can sign up for to receive a free phone number.
They can then customize their phone number to make it look like they live in whatever location they want. They can also customize the Caller ID to make it seem like they are whoever they want. This is how the scammer pretended to be Alix.
Heavily Edited Video That Looks Like Alix Said “Stephen”
This video cuts in and out the whole time it is being filmed and her lips don’t match the words being said. Alix said that the only time she would ever do a video like this is for a fan who paid her on OnlyFans and other chat apps. She wouldn’t randomly send a fan a video unless it was their birthday to wish them a happy birthday.
She isn’t looking for a relationship and wouldn’t wish a guy a good morning randomly. She confirmed that this video was heavily edited and does not remember saying that.
What is a Typical Romance Scammer?
Romance scammers are individuals who use false identities on dating websites, social media platforms, or other online forums to establish fraudulent romantic relationships with unsuspecting victims. They often pretend to be someone they are not, using stolen photographs, fake names, and fabricated stories to win the trust and affection of their targets.
While the specifics can vary, there are some common characteristics that are often associated with romance scammers.
- They are usually highly skilled at deception and manipulation, and can be very persuasive and convincing in their lies and stories.
- They may claim to be from a different country or to be traveling abroad, making it difficult for their victims to verify their true identity or location.

- They may be part of a larger criminal network, and may be based in different countries or regions around the world.
