Women Escapes Being Romance Scammed By a Fake Peace Corps Doctor

Lori is an author who uses linked in to help make new connections. Little did she know, She was about to make a connection that would change her life forever. 

Lori met Nick, a doctor who was on a Peace Corps mission in Yemen. He gave her the details of his mission, he gave her emotional support in her everyday life, and they began to get closer and closer.

Over the months that followed, they started to talk more and more as they began to care deeply for each other. Everything couldn’t have been going better in their relationship. Until everything changed.

Lori’s experience with talking to a romance scammer

Lori hadn’t been in a serious relationship for over 16 years. She had longed for a deep connection with someone but she just couldn’t seem to find the right person to build her life with. She spent that time focusing on herself and focusing on her religious faith.

When one day, out of the blue, a man named Nick messaged her on her  Linkedin profile. They started to talk a little, and then alot… and before Lori knew it, she was in love with Nick. Nick made her experience love deeper than she had ever experience in her life. Nick helped Lori deal with the stress of everyday life, and before long, he even helped her dream of the future.

Lori started to notice the deep effect this relationship was having on her. She started to look forward to their next conversation, wait for his every message, and long to be with him in the real world. But she know that Nick was on a mission to make the world a better place, so their love would have to wait. 

They started talking about meeting parents and moving in together, and as the weeks went on, their love grew to a fever pitch. Lori started sharing her faith with Nick. They even started reading the Bible together.

One night, Lori found herself looking for wedding rings. Then a wedding dress. Then she found herself planning a wedding and dreaming of the day that Nick would go to her home country and ask her parents for their blessing.

But then the trouble started. Nick asked to take leave so he could be with his finance, but there was only one problem, and that was the problem of the US army’s replacement fee. The imaginary fee that scammers like to convince their victims to pay.

The story usually goes like this: Hey babe! Good news, my superior officer said that I can come home, there’s just this small fee of $1,500 that we need to pay to get clearance!

Then comes the fake documents

And gaslighting from the scammer.

Romance scammers are worse than any type of scammer because they’re master manipulators. They tell stories that are designed to pull at your heartstrings and make promises they never plan to keep.

Lori was crushed. But most importantly, she was strong enough to walk away.

The real man in the photos

The real man in the pictures is a plastic surgeon in Miami Florida named Ryan Maercks. It is important to realize that the people in the picture are victims two. 

Imagine being Ryan Maercks. You’re a doctor, who wakes up every day and tries to improve the lives of everyone you come in contact with every day, and through no fault of your own, your images are stolen and used to break the heart of a woman you’ve never met.

Dr. Maercks only fault? Having a photogenic smile.
