Yvette is a woman who has been in a bit of a tight space in her life recently. Within the last five years, both her husband and her X-husband died of cancer. This lead her to try the world of online dating, and it nearly had consequences that changed her life forever.
The Story
To understand this story it’s important to first understand that Yvette met her husband online, and the relationship lasted 20 years. Within these twenty years, Yvette experienced the most loving relationship with a man who loved her and cared for her until his death three years ago. His passing and left a hole in her heart led her to seek companionship online.
This is when she meets Charles Laundry. A special force veteran who was stationed in Bagdad on a secret mission. He was handsome, brave, and everything Yvette could have wanted in a man. As the month carried on Yvette and Charles started talking every day.
Because of the distance and the combat situations Charles was in, Yvette had to put up with some difficulties with communication, Charles wasn’t allowed to have a cell phone where he was stationed so. he had to use his commander’s computer to talk to Yvette. And of course, because it was a secret mission, there would be no video chatting.
Everything was going perfect until Charles had a strange request. Charles wanted to get the guys in his unit a gift to thank them for all of their hard work, But the only problem was all of his accounts had been frozen by the US government to make sure he wasn’t engaging in Illegal activity overseas. The gift he wanted to give his unit was a $900 brand new PS5. Yvette was slightly suspicious, but she went to great lengths to find a PS5. But at the last minute, she got nervous and backed out.
The First Red Flag
Not long after came another request for the Ps5. Charles was finally headed to Dubia to fly back home and meet Yvette in person. But there was one problem. The road from Bagdad was so dangerous and he would need an armored escort. And since his accounts were frozen, he would need Yvette to pay the $9,000 for it.
Yvette recalls sitting in the parking lot of the bank sobbing knowing that she just cleared out all of the money in her bank account. Charles promised that if she just sent him the money he would be home to her in no time and they could start their life together.
