POF Con Artist Steals Thousands

Mark is a doctor who specializes Medical Informatics. He has three adult children and was married for 24 years, but he divorced his wife. Mark is also a parent of three puppies but sadly, their presence didn’t satiate is desire for female companionship. Mark started to feel alone and sought companionship on the popular dating app Plenty of Fish. Unbeknownst to Mark, there are plenty of POF con artists on this app and this is where his story takes a wild and unpredictable turn. Keep reading to find out what happened.

What Happened?

Mark met this POF con artist, Eileen, in July 2022 and she claimed to live nearby. They briefly chatted, and then Eileen’s mother had a stroke or heart attack while visiting her sister in Spain. Eileen immediately left to be with her mother, and Mark loaned her money against a check for her car and boat that she said she had sold.

Mark received a check for $132,000 in Eileen’s name from Paradise Chevrolet in Temecula, California, but later found out that the check was fraudulent. Eileen’s mother miraculously recovered and was able to fly to Peru, where she was a former diplomat. Eileen’s phone and laptop were constantly being hacked by Chinese hackers who wanted her money. Mark paid for expenses and insurance for her mother, and even paid for a friend, Annabelle, to reconfigure Eileen’s phone and get new ISPs to protect her from the hackers.

Eileen was eventually tricked into flying to China by a cloned phone claiming to be Mark to get a Chinese lotion that was said to be very effective for back pain. Once there, she was held captive. Annabelle arranged for private military contractors to extract her from Guangzhou, and they made their way to Hong Kong. Eileen left her American passport behind and could not use her Peruvian one as they knew her face. Mark paid for a New Zealand passport, but it never materialized. He also paid $2,000 for an official stamp on Eileen’s Peruvian passport.

As the story progressed, Mark became suspicious and stopped sending money. Eileen constantly texted and emailed him for more money for the contractors and living expenses. Last week, she finally made it back home to Peru.
