Same caller, a Nicole Campbell, called twice (2 days in a row) giving a case number and looking for someone I don’t know. Claims to be coming to my residence and workplace between 3-5:00 pm to serve legal documents. They called my husband’s cell number today also. Very suspicious.

Scam! Real process servers don't call in advance. Block and ignore such calls if you can.

This person (Chris) is a debt collector. I suspect the reason for verifying employment is to have wages garnished. Although I am not 100% certain on that. But he is definitely a debt collector.

If they are requesting verification of employment, its so they have one more scare tactic to pull by saying they will go there to "serve you". Never give up any information until you are absolutely sure its a debt you owe and they are able to collect legally. They can't garnish anyone's wages without a Court Order and of course you would have had to go to Court.Always ask questions before giving o
