Would you have trusted Malachi Love-Robinson and put your life at risk? If the name rings a bell, Love presented himself as a doctor at a West Palm Beach, Florida medical clinic called the New Birth New Life Medical Center & Urgent Care. Although he opened the clinic, everything about him was a lie. Not only did Malachi fib in his bio on Health Grades and falsely state that he was in his mid 20’s when he was only 18, but he also lacked a Ph.D. or medical license.<\/p>\n
The big question on everyone’s mind when police apprehended the teenager, was how he managed to fool people into believing he was a well-respected medical professional and why? Some claimed he was acting as a naturopathic doctor, while others felt “Dr. Love,” as he called himself, was a dangerous scammer who could have cost clients their life!<\/p>\n
Police arranged a sting operation to get more information on the teenager and ended up leading him away in handcuffs from his West Palm Beach clinic. As part of that undercover operation, the authorities had an officer pose as a patient coming to his clinic for medical advice.<\/p>\n
That medical advice, along with posing as a fake doctor, has now landed Love a cease and desist notice and several citations, in addition to his arrest. This was not his first brush with trouble. According to NBC News<\/a>, the Palm Beach County Department of Health had prior run-ins with Love, during which he was investigated and cited for a similar scam.<\/p>\n Too many just hearing about Love’s story, his prior impersonation may have been his scariest crime of all! Since he did not come into any contact with patients or patient care areas, he was not arrested.<\/p>\n However, Love was charged with a third-degree felony and sentenced to 3 and a half years in jail for opening his fraudulent practice and posing as a real doctor. In a jailhouse interview, he claims that he “regrets” the crime. He told Inside Edition<\/a> that he was a young man who was overly ambitious and dreamed of being a physician.<\/p>\n His official website, which has been taken down since his arrest, claimed that his facility had a “staff of Alternative Medical Professionals” who would create a holistic plan for their patients Do you think that a psychological diagnosis played a role in his fake doctor scam?
