Those creations included humorous quizzes and personality tests, often based on Myers-Briggs (personality) type matching. Sapiosexual, or attraction to the intellect, was a popular theme and remains so today. As time went on and OkCupid became more well known, its popularity increased with everyone from teachers to therapists, or even your next-door neighbor (possibly your married neighbor, as the site is for monogamy and non-monogamy).<\/span><\/p>\n

Though it initially launched as a free service in 2009, OkCupid created an \u201cA-list\u201d account option with additional features. Though one of OkCupid\u2019s founders once posted negative statements against<\/span> match.com<\/span><\/a> for its corrupt exploitation of users through its paid service, those comments were eventually removed (\u201cvoluntarily\u201d) when OkCupid was acquired for $50 million by IAC\/InterActiveCorp (not coincidentally<\/span> match.com<\/span><\/a>\u2019s operators).<\/span><\/p>\n

In synopsis: While many dating sites require users to match prior to messaging, OkCupid used to allow \u2018open messaging\u2019. This meant, that any user could message another, regardless of their match status. However, largely to help female users who were inundated with messages they didn\u2019t want, the site now calls messaging \u2018Conversations\u201d and, although users can write a message to anyone they like, the other user won\u2019t see it unless they \u2018like\u2019 that user\u2019s profile in return.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can see what someone is into based on the questions asked and see if this matches what you are into. This will help you figure out the personality of your match and determine on if you want to like that person or not.<\/span><\/p>\n
