Debbie had a rough four years. After a series of catastrophes, she lost everything. As soon as she was able to get the strength to recover, she found comfort in a scammer who romanced her until she completely trusted him, and he made her life even harder. But this story has an unexpected twist.
The First Tragedy
Debbies problems first started when her husband was diagnosed with liver cancer. Once he was given the diagnosis, he died 60 days later, before Debbie even had a chance to process the situation. Debbie was left all alone. But her husband left behind one thing that she could find comfort in.
Debbie and her husband built their dream home. As Debbie looks back on the home, she recalls it as being perfect. Her and her husband planned every part of the house to be exactly the way they wanted it. But, shortly after her husband passed, the Neighbor’s son came over to help Debbie around the place. And while Debbie was upstairs still grieving the death of the love of her life, something was going terribly wrong.
Debbie Loses everything
The boy next door was working in the basement. While he was working, he accidentally set a fire. As the fire spread through the basement, the boy was confused. He panicked and left the scene. But he didn’t tell Debbie about his mistake.
Debbie was able to get out of the house in time. But she was devastated. The one thing that brought her comfort after the death of her husband was gone. Debbie fell into what she can only describe as a fog. She went from having a loving relationship, financial security, and her dream home, to having nothing overnight.
She battled with depression for months, but she eventually started feeling better. And one day a man contacted her through Facebook dating and started having a conversation with her. His name was Daniel, He was an oil rig worker who was working just off the coast of California. He said all of the right things and seemed to be the perfect man. Everything in the relationship was going great until one day daniel fell into the ocean and lost his wallet. All of the money that he had brought with him onto the oil rig was gone, and he couldn’t afford to buy any food.
A New Man Enters The Picture
Debbie took care of him financially. She started pawning her jewelry in order to be able to pay for his food. Daniel asked her to go into his bank account and transfer $500,000 to another account. The website was for a bank that she had never heard of before. He asked her to transfer $72,000 from his bank account in order for him to be able to get on a helicopter flight back home. The only catch was, Daniel, told Debbie that she needed to deposit a percentage of the funds in order to be able to transfer the money. After Debbie sent the money, she realized that it was a scam.
Debbie was devastated, but she decided to block “Daniel” the scammer on everything. He kept attempting to contact her, and each time he made up a story about sneaking off of the oil rig to come and see her,
After a while, a new guy texted her on the same app that she met Daniel. He talked to her for a while, and when he finally thought he had her trust, he asked her if he could send her money to transfer to someone else. All of the things this new guy was saying to her sounded far too familiar. It reminded her of someone else she knew…
Once the scammer sent Debbie the money, she went to the ATM and changed her mind. She told him that on her way to deposit the money into the ATM, she was jumped and the attackers took everything.
Oops!
With this trick, Debbie took matters into her own hands and was able to get some of her money back.
