Grape had been married for 30 years when her husband suddenly died. She was left alone with her son and she was lonely. One day, she decided to give Christian Mingle a try to find someone who shared her ideals who she could start a life with.
When Grape met Richard, she was immediately intrigued by him. She liked how sweet he was and she said that he talked to her like no other man had.
The two talked for a while, and they got really close. so when Richard told grape that he would be temporarily relocating overseas, she was upset, but she found comfort in the fact that it was temporary. But this is when the story began to get strange.
Richard claimed that the hotel he was staying at said that he owed them money, and they wouldn’t let him leave until he paid. Grape wanted to talk to him, but he said they wouldn’t allow him to accept any incoming calls. He also claim that the hotel took his passport and wouldn’t give it back until he paid his debt. Richard asked Grape for the money to pay. Grape was unsure because it didn’t sound right, but she trusted him so she decided to go with it.
Grape sent Richard $6,000 worth of Bitcoin but after this Richard still wasn’t satisfied. He wanted her to take a home equity loan out and send him the money.
Grape began to get suspicious when she sent flowers to the hotel that he claimed to be staying in and no one went to pick up the present. That is when she realized that he was a scammer. When Grape confronted Richard, she called him a scammer, a lier, and a cheater. Richard then claimed that he could never ever scam anyone because it was wrong.
Grape reached out to Social Catfish to find out who’s really in the photos. We found out that the real man in the photos is an actor who has his photos stolen for romance scams all the time. Grape was upset that the man in the photos isn’t who she was really talking to.
After the truth came out, Social Catfish arranged to have Grape meet a real person online, and they went on 3 dates. With three real people.
