Your cell phone rings… but when you glance to see who is calling you, it doesn’t show the name of a family member or friend. Instead, you see the incoming caller’s name showing as “Scam Likely.” If this phenomenon is a frequent occurrence for you, this is how to handle “Scam Likely” calls and properly block these suspicious or possibly fraudulent calls!
What Are Scam Likely Calls?
When a call displays a “Scam Likely” warning, your phone company is looking out for you! In an effort to combat the many scams and telemarking calls that most of us receive on a daily basis, the leading wireless carriers have teamed up to help to combat these soliciting calls. While your phone displaying “Scam Likely” is great as it doesn’t rely on you having to download an app to reduce unwanted calls, you can still block those callers directly from your phone!
How Do You Block Scam Likely Callers?
This is how you can easily block a scam likely caller and stay safe from nuisance calls … regardless of the type of phone that you use or the phone carrier, you have service with.
On an iPhone: After the “Scam Likely” call, go to your recent calls and select the “I” icon. Scroll down and choose the option that says: “Block this Caller.”
On an Android Phone: After the “Scam Likely” call rings through, go to your call history and block the call using the selection found for your individual brand of phone. This process is almost identical to call blocking on an iPhone.
If You Have T-Mobile (other carriers don’t have this option yet): If you have T-Mobile simply dial this code: #662#, followed by the harassing phone number. Then, act as though you’re calling the number and, instead … the phone number will be blocked!
To Silence Unknown Callers on an iPhone or Android Device
“Scam Likely” calls are your phone service provider’s way of protecting you without any work performed on your part, but you can also auto-reject or silence all unknown callers.
iPhone
1. Go to Settings.
2. Select “Silence Unknown Callers.”
3. If your device is using iOS13 or later, all unknown callers will then be blocked. Sending an emergency call will immediately disable that call lock for twenty-four hours.
Android
1. Go to Settings.
2. Select “Block Numbers” followed by “Block Unknown Callers.”
3. Unknown callers will now be blocked, minus calls placed after calling 9-1-1.
