When Rosemary’s husband died, she was left to raise her two special needs sons on her own. She was heartbroken and lonely. She recalls her husband as being the sweetest man she had ever met, and she would now be forced to live life without him in her life. Rosemary never tried online dating, but one night, while she was in a Facebook group discussion about her favorite show, The Chosen. A named Richard from the group reached out to her via DM.
The Start of The Relationship
Rosemary was hesitant to respond to him at first, but as she began to talk to Richard further, she saw to see similarities between the man and her husband. Richard started saying all the right things to get her head over heels for him. One day, Richard told Rosemary that he would help her remodel her house and buy it from her landlord. He even told her that he would be a father to her special needs son.
During all of this, Rosemary’s family was skeptical. They discouraged her and told her things that hurt her self-esteem, but she couldn’t let it go. She felt like she was living in a fairytale and Richard was her prince charming. Her son had his suspicions about the relationship from the start. He sat down with rosemary and looked at the documents that Richard sent along with reading through them and was begging her to see that it was a scam. He even took his mom’s phone and told the scammer in no uncertain terms that he didn’t appreciate the manipulation that he was putting his vulnerable mother through.
