Jeffrey is a man from Omaha, Nebraska who was talking to a woman named Dottie living in Alaska. They met on Facebook in October 2019 and decided to get married a few months ago, even though he has never met her in person. Jeffrey and his family have grown suspicious of Dottie’s true identity, and want to know who he has really been talking to online. We interviewed Jeffrey and got the answers we needed to start looking into the true identity of his online lover. Is she a romance scammer? Let’s find out.
Why Was She Unable to Talk on the Phone?
She claimed she couldn’t talk on the phone because it was broken. However, she also claimed to have a lot of money, property, and own a business. Meaning that with this logic, she could’ve fixed her phone with no problem. Since her phone was supposedly broken, she only spoke to Jeffrey via Google Hangouts messaging.
“I never heard her voice,” Jeffrey stated when we asked him this question.
Why Does Jeffrey Have Suspicions That She Might Be a Romance Scammer?
Even though he mostly believes she is real, there is still that small part of him that suspects that she could be a romance scammer. This is why he decided to get in contact with Social Catfish to try and get more answers as to what is going on.
“She always had an excuse about something. Every time I asked her about something, it would be an excuse,” he stated when explaining why he was suspicious, “Finally, she said ‘Well, I can receive my money and properties if you marry me.'”
How Would Jeffrey Receive This Supposed Money and Property?
Jeffrey got in contact with Dottie’s father’s lawyer after he agreed to marry her. He started emailing the lawyer, and he had promised Jeffrey that he would release the money and property to Dottie once they were married. However, it would only be released under Jeffrey’s name due to her parents’ wishes. He would supposedly be owner of all of this money and property, and be able to control what happens with it.
What Did Jeffrey Need to Do Before Marrying Dottie?
Before he could sign the paperwork to claim Dottie’s inheritance, he needed to pay for their marriage license. Dottie had him send pictures of Steam gift cards with their backs scratched off so that the codes were visible, in addition to pictures of the receipts.
How Did Jeffrey Show His Love for Dottie?
She mailed him a surprise photo to his house of a photoshopped picture of him and her in a frame. He hung it up on his wall to show how much he cared about her and wanted to see her on a daily basis.
When is the Last Time He Spoke to Dottie?
They messaged each other two weeks ago through Google Hangouts.
What is He Looking to Discover with Social Catfish?
“I just want the truth, and not to be heartbroken,” he stated when we asked him this question.
He’s been up and down about this whole situation. A big part of him wants to believe that she is real, but another part of him is suspicious that she could be a romance scammer. He had sent her money for a plane ticket, but she never caught a flight to come to Omaha, Nebraska.
This has raised some concerns to him that she might not be real. Because of everything he has witnessed, he just wants closure and the truth about what is really going on.
