How to Find Someone on Facebook with a Phone Number

Using the Facebook Website/App to Find Someone with a Phone Number

As most people have created a Facebook account at some time or another, this is a common way to search.

1. Go to Facebook.
2. Log in using your known account or sign up by creating a new account. If you don’t want the person you’re looking for to see you as a friend suggestion of “someone they might know” consider searching from a friend’s account, with their permission, or from a new account.
3. Once you’ve logged in, look for the search bar at the top of the screen. Enter the phone number you’re looking for and begin your search!
4. Next, select “See all results for xxx-xxx-xxxx” and evaluate the list of search results.

Using the Facebook Messenger App to Find Someone with a Phone Number

Using the Messenger app is our preferred method of conducting a standard Facebook search.

1. Go to the Google Play or App Store and download the Messenger app.
2. Before you log into your new account, add the phone number you’re interested in locating to your phone’s actual phone book or contact list.
3. Next, log into Messenger and select your own profile image or icon.
4. While you will be shown many options and settings, you should select “Upload Contact” and turn that feature to “On”.
5. You will then be shown an alert that says, “Find your phone contacts on Messenger” which will allow your phone contacts to load and sync with the messenger app. Once they have loaded, you can ignore or block the profile that shows (based on phone number) or navigate your way toward their official Facebook profile via Messenger!
