People download thousands of apps on a daily basis with some apps being their little secret. There are some people who will do anything to keep their apps private and will go to great lengths to hide their apps. Maybe it’s a significant other who is trying to cheat on their spouse, or a child trying to hide an iPhone app from their parents. No matter what the reason, there are many reasons as to why you might want to find hidden apps on an iPhone. At Social Catfish, we have come up with 7 ways to find hidden apps on an iPhone.
How Do You Find Hidden Apps on an iPhone?
Use the iPhone’s Search Feature to Find Hidden Apps
To get to your iPhone’s search feature, you can either swipe down or swipe right to search for an app on the iPhone. If this app is installed within the iPhone, then it will show up on these search results as being installed on it. However, if the app you are searching for doesn’t appear on the iPhone, then this means it hasn’t been installed on that iPhone or has been deleted.
Ask Siri to Open the App
Say “Hey Siri” or hold down the lock button (or front button if you have an older model iPhone) to activate Siri. Then, ask Siri to “Open Up *app name here*” to open up the suspected app downloaded. If the app is downloaded on the iPhone, Siri will open up the app and you will know it is installed on that iPhone. However, if Siri “can’t seem to find that app,” then this means that it’s either been deleted off the device or has never been installed on it.
Search Within the iPhone’s App Library
In the new iPhone update, there is a feature where you can search through the App Library to find an app. This is due to the fact that you can delete apps off the iPhone’s home screen but still have them downloaded on your iPhone. To find an app using the App Library, swipe left on all the iPhone’s home pages until you get to the App Library. Then, search for the app that you would like to find on the iPhone. If you can’t find the app on this list, either it’s been deleted from the iPhone or never been installed. However, if it’s on this list, then that means it’s installed on the iPhone.
Look At All the iPhone’s Home Pages
Hold the home screen (or front button) down until your apps start to shake around. Click on the three dots toward the bottom of the iPhone to where you see multiple home pages with checkmarks next to them. Make sure all home pages are checked off to show on your iPhone and click save. Then, look at the home page that was hidden to find any apps you need to on it.
Search on the App Store
Open up the App Store on the iPhone and search for the app that you suspect is on the iPhone. If the app is on the iPhone, it will say “Open” next to it. If the app is not on the iPhone but has been purchased in the past, it will have a cloud and arrow next to it that means to download it again from the cloud. If the app has never been on the iPhone nor has it been purchased, it will say “Purchase” next to the app.
Reset Home Screen Layout
To reset the home screen layout, go to “Settings,” then “General,” then “Reset,” then click on “Reset Home Screen Layout.” By doing this, you delete all custom folders, unhide all home pages on the phone, and unhide all apps on the phone. If you can’t find the app by doing this, this means that it is not installed on the iPhone or has been deleted.
Check All Hidden Purchases
People can hide their purchases on their iPhones so that it doesn’t show up on their “Purchased” list. However, many people don’t realize that these purchases actually go onto a different list called “Hidden Purchases” that their loved ones can still check. To look at the “Hidden Purchases” list, go onto the iPhone’s settings and go onto their iCloud profile. Then, click on “Hidden Purchases” to view the hidden purchases on the iPhone. However, you need to know that person’s iCloud password in order to view these purchases.
