It's not exactly 'clearly written' having tiny writing, pale and barely noticeable that gives the lic# in the two states then even lighter in color under that 'not a utility co' is hardly, 'clearly stated' ."Always read the small print first'
Received same card twice now. Clever that AWP is so close to American Water. Delaware based company that sells water purification products and services. Agree, strange that the phone number is different though. I did not try to call.
It is not a scam. It IS marketing. The products they sell are for water softening and I think filtering systems. The card clearly states it is not a utility company under their PA and NJ business license numbers. Not every marketing piece is a SCAM. Some marketing pieces are better than others. Everyone who has a knee jerk reaction that it is a scam should try to be less hyperbolic.Regards,
As per all other comments; a scam. The name on the recorded message is Paula McGovern
Also got the same postcard described in earlier posts. Googled AWP and according to the website, they sell water purification products and services. Strangely, the phone number on the card (302-544-7145) is not the phone number on the website. Also, and this is really strange, the address is next door to a place of worship my wife and I have been to a few times. Hmmmmm
I already sent them a check $349.87....am I out the money already ?
Got the same post card. It is definitely a scam, since there was extremely little information on who it is from. I might have been contacted by phone from these scammers, but I block all phone numbers I don't recognize.
Follow up this is Mail Fraud, plain and simple. They want to sell you water softeners and filters. The other dead give away was it was addressed to my Son and current Resident.
I got 8 of these cards for the past 2 mo. We have well water, no water bills. I did call from a private # to see what it was they said they were thru home depot and they want to send me a new home welcome gift, also will be a water sample test to test our water with a free shipping kit. Asked me questions about my water and said they will send me a welcome gift and the water test kit.
It is a scam - hands down. Sure sign is that it is addressed to "your first and last name" OR "current resident"Also, I got this postcard and I live in a new development in rather rural setting - I have WELL WATER. I don't have any bills coming from any water company. Scam it is.
Have received multiple postcards from this company and I'm almost certain phone calls as well, though I screen my calls. The post card has the return address AWP, 74 Southgate Blvd, New Castle, DE 19720.It reads as others have stated: "Water Update. Unfortunately we have been unable to contact you by phone or home visit. Please contact us within the next 72 hours. Call between 9:00am-9:00pm Monday
Recently refi'd. Can you say scams r us. Nothing to do with current service. Same number 302.544.7145 via postcard
I did a little more research, the company tests water. You can get a drinking water test from any big box store for free. So not necessarily a scam, but not clearly sure what, if anything, they do in addition to the free water test you get get from the big box stores
They're trying to sell water softeners and other water treatment supplies. No, not necessarily a scam, but very misleading since they don't state they are NOT affiliated with your water company. Most people will read the card and think it's from their water company. That's what people find scammy - if you have to mislead people in order to get them to call you back - they're not a company you'd
The fact that people are here makes me think this is a scam. I got the same postcard. That is NOT the number for my water company. I use American Water. Their corporate HQ is in NJ, and they do not service Delaware, which is where this postcard claims to be from. For the record, I also recently purchased my home, so I think since they see the new listing, scammers are trying to take advantage
We received the same postcard in our new home (we've been here a little less than two months). We paid one water bill already. Does anyone know whether this is legitimate or if it's a scam?
Why don't you call the number to your actual water department and see? If it's legitimate, it should be from them, not some nameless entity...
We received the same post card very annoying. It's a new house and we thought we needed to do something.
Actually received postcard stating"WATER UPDATEUnfortunately we have been unable tocontact you by phone or home visit. Please contact us within next 72 hours.302-544-7145"Return Address readsAWP74 Southgate BlvdNew Castle, DE 19720
